A 24 órás kötős-horgolós jótekonysági akció

Anitának, a tulajdonosnőnek a kisfia 2010-ben agydaganattal bekerült a kórházba. Ebből a történetből nőtt ki az akció. A kórházhoz tartozik egy Ronald McDonald ház, itt a beteg gyerekek szülei és testvérei alhatnak. A ház éjjelenként minimális összegért biztosit helyet a családoknak - szponzorokat keresnek a maradék költségek finanszirozására.

Többek között őket fogjuk megkötni-horgolni / We will knit and crochet all of them for the house!

In the last months I've been linking several stuff about our 24 hours knitting and crocheting marathon, so it's time to make a summary post about what exactly is going to happen. (19-20 October, Breda, NL)

In the local yarn shop for the weekly workshops come more or less the same people with the same interests. And it is true that during crafting you share all your worries and stories with the fellow crafters. So we support each other by listening, holding hands and sometimes crying along.
In 2010 the shop owner's, Anita's son was taken to the hospital with brain tumor.Their story inspired our project. To the hospital belongs a Ronald McDonald House. This house gives accomodation for the parents and siblings of the children in the hospital. For a small amount the families have the posibility to be together and support their children, The house is looking for sponsors. This is where we can help.

With our project we want to drive the attention to the fact that this institution needs sponsors. We ourselves are selling our self-made goods on an online auction and  with the money we will sponsor the RMC House. The registration fees will also support the House. And during the 24 hours we will make toys and blankets, things that the house can use.

We have a blog, where you can find all the relevant sponsoring and preparation info. We are happy for all support, material or non-material
We will be knitting and crocheting from 8am on 19.10 until 8 am 20.10. There are still free places to register yourself and knit- and crochet along! You would make us very glad with your supporting text messages, emails and facebook shares!

My first pillow

This I made for my best friend, handed over on her wedding. Everything on it is HER. This was my first project on the sewing machine without pattern. I just wanted a pillow for her, so it happened.

Vincent van Gogh and the yarn balls

A muzeumnak januar vegeig van ez a tematikus kiallitasa "Van Gogh at Work", mindezt a kiallitas is elmeseli maga.

Yesterday evening I've been in a very remarkable museum tour in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The textile artist Loret Karman told us how the painter used yarn to define the color shade of his paintings, about contrary and complementary colors, how some colors fade away by the time and how they knew about the recently discovered van Gogh painting that it was an original.
During the tour we also had to do some work  -  we had to exchange yarns among each other to complete the palette of the painter. However I only got 12 colors of the 19, but it was just enough for a friendship bracelet with all the contrasting colors. So this is my Vincent van Gogh bracelet.

This thematical exhibition of the museum is open until the end of January next year. The exhibiton "Van Gogh at Work" tells all of the above. It is very much interactive, you can touch things, look up paints under the microscope, draw. Would I live in Amsterdam, I'd definitely have a year ticket there.

Back to Jewels

Csilingel is.

After all those knitting I finally made time for a new jewel. A before-after picture would have been nice, but I was so quick cutting away the original band of the watch... :) The watch looked perfect for the transformation - the part that now holds the leather bands is just the right one to let your phantasy free. (in case my phantasy). So with a lot of on-the-go planning, my new watch is ready. It twinkles too.
