Christmas cowl

There is this Hungarian group on facebook where the members need to use their stash - you need to have less yarn at the end of 2014 as in the beggining. I've started already, all the Maxi Merinos and Merino Bigs were quite OK to carry them with me at Christmas. And I like this thing too.

Present for myself

Miutan befejeztem az osszes ajandekot (es az ad hoc megkotott parnat, lasd elozo poszt) es eppen elol volt a varrogep, vegre megvarrtam magamnak a horgolotutartot. Vagy cserelheto kototuhegy-tartot. Vagy tolltartot. Vagy mindegy.

After I finished all of the christmas presents (and the ad hoc knitted pillow;see previous post) and the sewing maching was installed I finally made myself this crochet needle holder. Or replaceable knitting needle-end holder. Or etui. Or whatever.

a kozepso zsebben vannak a csavarok. The middle pocket contains the screws.

majd meg ki kell vasalni. still needs some ironing.

Ma pedig elmentem az Atelier Jaffariba, a Blij dat ik brei blog gazdajahoz. Vettem gyonyoru szinatmenetes fonalat. Sikerul-e.

And today I went to Arnemuiden to the Atelier Jaffari of the blog Blij dat ik brei. I bought a beautiful color changing yarn. Yesterday I made an inventory how much yarn I have and came to the conclusion that in the next 5 years I will not need to buy any yarn anymore. Will I succeed?

A 24 órás kötős-horgolós jótekonysági akció

Anitának, a tulajdonosnőnek a kisfia 2010-ben agydaganattal bekerült a kórházba. Ebből a történetből nőtt ki az akció. A kórházhoz tartozik egy Ronald McDonald ház, itt a beteg gyerekek szülei és testvérei alhatnak. A ház éjjelenként minimális összegért biztosit helyet a családoknak - szponzorokat keresnek a maradék költségek finanszirozására.

Többek között őket fogjuk megkötni-horgolni / We will knit and crochet all of them for the house!

In the last months I've been linking several stuff about our 24 hours knitting and crocheting marathon, so it's time to make a summary post about what exactly is going to happen. (19-20 October, Breda, NL)

In the local yarn shop for the weekly workshops come more or less the same people with the same interests. And it is true that during crafting you share all your worries and stories with the fellow crafters. So we support each other by listening, holding hands and sometimes crying along.
In 2010 the shop owner's, Anita's son was taken to the hospital with brain tumor.Their story inspired our project. To the hospital belongs a Ronald McDonald House. This house gives accomodation for the parents and siblings of the children in the hospital. For a small amount the families have the posibility to be together and support their children, The house is looking for sponsors. This is where we can help.

With our project we want to drive the attention to the fact that this institution needs sponsors. We ourselves are selling our self-made goods on an online auction and  with the money we will sponsor the RMC House. The registration fees will also support the House. And during the 24 hours we will make toys and blankets, things that the house can use.

We have a blog, where you can find all the relevant sponsoring and preparation info. We are happy for all support, material or non-material
We will be knitting and crocheting from 8am on 19.10 until 8 am 20.10. There are still free places to register yourself and knit- and crochet along! You would make us very glad with your supporting text messages, emails and facebook shares!

Vincent van Gogh and the yarn balls

A muzeumnak januar vegeig van ez a tematikus kiallitasa "Van Gogh at Work", mindezt a kiallitas is elmeseli maga.

Yesterday evening I've been in a very remarkable museum tour in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The textile artist Loret Karman told us how the painter used yarn to define the color shade of his paintings, about contrary and complementary colors, how some colors fade away by the time and how they knew about the recently discovered van Gogh painting that it was an original.
During the tour we also had to do some work  -  we had to exchange yarns among each other to complete the palette of the painter. However I only got 12 colors of the 19, but it was just enough for a friendship bracelet with all the contrasting colors. So this is my Vincent van Gogh bracelet.

This thematical exhibition of the museum is open until the end of January next year. The exhibiton "Van Gogh at Work" tells all of the above. It is very much interactive, you can touch things, look up paints under the microscope, draw. Would I live in Amsterdam, I'd definitely have a year ticket there.

Back to Jewels

Csilingel is.

After all those knitting I finally made time for a new jewel. A before-after picture would have been nice, but I was so quick cutting away the original band of the watch... :) The watch looked perfect for the transformation - the part that now holds the leather bands is just the right one to let your phantasy free. (in case my phantasy). So with a lot of on-the-go planning, my new watch is ready. It twinkles too.

Embriodered crochet phonecase

A szokasoson kivul voltam kicsit nyaralni, voltak vendegeink es belekezdtunk a 24 oras kotos-horgolos projektbe. Ugyhogy kikapcsolodaskent a fentrol lefele indulo pulcsimat kotottem, de nemigen halad. Plusz szuletesnapomra vettem egy uj telefont, ami kepeket is tud csinalni (eljen!), ugyhogy kellett neki egy tok.
30szem, 10sor rovidpalca, kis viragos keresztszemes.

So what did I do in the last months besides the photos below? On top of the usual I was a tiny bit on holidays, we had guests and we started the 24 hours knitting project. So for relaxation I was working on my top-down knitted jumper, which is slowed down now...Plus for my birthday I suprised myself with a new phone that can make photos(yeah!), so this neede a phonecase.
Chain 30, single crochet 10rowas, cross-stich little flowers.

Es ez a pulcsi nem halad sehova. / And this is the sweater which takes now ages.

Ephemera Cradigan 2.0

Eloszor vettem 7 db lepkes gombot.

Link a ravelry projektjeimhez: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/mereljewels

First I bought the 7 buttons with the butterflies. Then I thought that the Bucilla hand-dyed yarn that just arrived would match it very nicely....then I thought of an extra color, bought the katia yarn the next day. And I used the pattern of the Ephemera cardigan with some modifications: I lengthened the sleeves with 6 inces each and instead of using a crocheted edging I knitted them.
Is it only me that when I finish a new pattern I want to knit it again not to forget anything how it went?

The real granny square pillow

My mother-in-law gave me some granny squares which were made by her mother, so of my boyfriends grandma.
I decided to make something nice for our house of it. The “real” granny squares squeeze my heart.
So first I bought a pillow (with a cover that would fit my granny squares colors). I measured how many black squares I needed to make. I made them, crocheted them together and made 3 rows of granny-stripe round.
And as in the meanwhile I bought a sewing machine I carefulli sewn it to the pillow covers edge.
Loveit.
