Vincent van Gogh and the yarn balls

Tegnap este egy nagyon kulonleges tarlatvezetesen voltam az amsterdami Van Gogh Muzeumban. Azt meseltek el, hogyan hasznalt van Gogh kulonbozo szinu fonalakat az arnyalatok meghatarozasahoz. A tarlatot egy textilmuvesz, Loret Karman vezette, meselt a kontraszt es komplementer szinekrol, arrol, hogyan fakulnak ki idovel bizonyos szinek es hogy honnan tudtak a nemreg felvedezett van Goghrol hogy eredeti.

 Feladatot is kaptunk, kulonbozo kezzel festett fonalakkal az ujjunkon kellett osszeallitani a festo palettajat. A szineket egymastol kellett beszerezni, nekem tizenkettot sikerult a tizenkilencbol, de igy egy pont jo meretu, kontrasztkarkotot sikerult makramezni. Ez az en Vincent van Gogh karkotom.

A muzeumnak januar vegeig van ez a tematikus kiallitasa "Van Gogh at Work", mindezt a kiallitas is elmeseli maga. Jo kis interaktiv tarlat, meg lehet dolgokat fogni, mikroszkop alatt festekretegeket nezni, rajzolni. Ha Amsterdamban laknek, lenne berletem.

Yesterday evening I've been in a very remarkable museum tour in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The textile artist Loret Karman told us how the painter used yarn to define the color shade of his paintings, about contrary and complementary colors, how some colors fade away by the time and how they knew about the recently discovered van Gogh painting that it was an original.
During the tour we also had to do some work  -  we had to exchange yarns among each other to complete the palette of the painter. However I only got 12 colors of the 19, but it was just enough for a friendship bracelet with all the contrasting colors. So this is my Vincent van Gogh bracelet.

This thematical exhibition of the museum is open until the end of January next year. The exhibiton "Van Gogh at Work" tells all of the above. It is very much interactive, you can touch things, look up paints under the microscope, draw. Would I live in Amsterdam, I'd definitely have a year ticket there.

I needed a bracelet matching my blue-red shoes. I tried different designs, the first one I kept. But checking the pictures, the second version is not bad either...too late.

Just divorced

She finally succeeded, which, of course, needed to be celebrated. My present was the above bracelet. 

Sunday treat

Tegnap gyorsan megfűztem ezt a két karkötőt.  A színes duplasoros, gumis damilon van, középen egy osztógyöngy fogja össze a két szálat. A lila-zöld szürke tigrisbajszon van, stoppergyönggyel, kapoccsal.  A köves gyöngyöket a waterloopleini piacon vettem Amsterdamban, ez egy turistának abszolút must see, én mindig elmegyek, ha arra járok.

Yesterday I quickly made this 2 bracelets from small stone-beads.  The double-lined is on an elastic rubberband and in the middle a square bead holds the two lines together. The green-purple is on a normal wire, made on the traditional way. I bought the beads in the market at the Waterlooplein in Amsterdam, what is a must see for a tourist. I always go there if I have the chance.

Ma pedig Doordrechtben volt könyvpiac, elég sokat esett az eső, viszont érdemes volt elmenni...
And today there was a book market in Doordrecht, it was raining a lot but it was definitely worth for going...

A felső sor magáért beszél, a könyveket és a Garfieldot nem lehetett otthagyni. A csomózott karkötőket pedig egy kamaszlány árulta, saját munka, rögtön eszembe jutott az előző bejegyzésem.
The upper row is for my brand new hobby, the books and the Garfield comic were must-buys and the bracelets are made by a teenage girl, she sold them herself, so I saw a link to my previous post.

Friendship bracelet 2.0

Olyan 13 éves korom körül megkaptam az Így készül az indián copf című könyvet (merthogy akartam a hajamba valami olyasmit), aminek a másik oldalán az Így készül az indián fonat volt. Lassan kedvenc könyvvé érett, az összes barátságkarkötőt megcsomóztam belőle, amit lehetett. És persze mindegyiket egyszerre hordtam, kár, hogy nincs rólam kép abból az időből. A könyv minden költözéskor a csomagban van, nehogy elvesszen.

  
Node ezeknek a karkötőknek az az egyetlen hibája, hogy rá kell csomózni az ember kezére és tkp kettő - esetleg négy - fonaldarab mindig lelóg, kiáll. (Meg persze felgyullad, ha az ember dohányzik. Régi szép idők, ugye.)
A problémával 14 éve foglalkozom, idén felsejlett valami megoldás...Hogy ez a jó-e, nem tudom, macerás, de jól néz ki, csatja van meg minden, irodában hordható.

Lehet kapni ilyen előre gyártott kis karkötő alapokat, de felfedeztem, hogy ezt a műanyag lukas olajszármazékot 50x50-es lapban is árulják. Így csak méretre kell vágni és a végét összecsípni, karikát rá, kész. A karkötőt megcsomóztam, de nem fontam be a végén a szálakat, hanem az alap lyukain áthúzkodtam a másik oldalra. Ott aztán befontam, majd hasonló színű fonallal rávarrtam az alapra, úgy, hogy színén a karkötő pont takarja.

When I was approx 13 I got the Hungarian version of the book Echt coole Freundschaftbaender. (Really Cool Friendship Bracelets). The book was double-sided, I wanted it first for the other side, there you could learn how to make colorful clips for your hair. I really love this book, I made all of the bracelets of it, a lot of them in different colors. And I was wearing them all at the same time, that's a pity there are no pictures recording this. I keep carrying this book with me to all of my flats, you could call it my favorite non-fiction book. 

There is a problem with these bracelets: as from the method, they need to be knotted to ones wrist. That means from your wrists there are several pieces of yarn hanging all the time (and easily catch fire if you happen to be a smoker. Good old times.)
This problem is bothering me already for 14 years and it seems, I may have found a solution. If it is the perfect one I don't know, but at least it looks decent, can be worn in the office.

You can buy these small bracelets in DIY shops, small leather-like plastic with small holes. I discovered that you can also buy them in a bigger format (50x50cms), so you just have to cut it to the right size, close the ends with the clips, put some rings on it, done. So first I made the bracelet but I did not finish it in a normal way, but put it on the foundation and pushed the small yarns through the small holes. Then I finished it up and sewed it invisibly to the foundation.

Ribbon Woven Chain Bracelet

Kricsar linkelte a múltkor a How Did You Make This? blogot a fb-on. Nagyon jó kis tutorialok vannak rajta és elég eredeti ötletek. Szóval itt a szalagos-karikás lánc, ez pedig a link, hogy hogyan kell csinálni. Azt mondjuk hozzátenném, hogy a fotók elég csalókák. Nagy karikát és szalagot kerestem, de végülis a legvékonyabb lila szalag és a sztenderd karika nyert.

The How Did You Make This? blog was recently linked by Hungarian blogger Kricsar on facebook. It has very nice tutorials and original creations. So this is the ribbon woven chain bracelet tutorial. What I have to add that on the photos the rings and the ribbon seem huge - but actually this is the thinnest ribbon and the standard ring. Of course in purple.

Things for an almost-teenager

Au pair voltam 2005-2006-ban, azóta a gyerekek megnőttek és 2 éve újra rendszeresen hallok róluk. Mivel a nagyobbal már barátnők vagyunk, elmentünk együtt vásárolni, választott magának (rózsaszín) gyöngyöt, aztán azt mondta, csináljak neki belőle valamit. Királylány - ugye. A karkötő meg ráadás, mert mit ér az ajándék meglepetés-faktor nélkül.

In 2005-2006 I used to work as an au pair in Holland. Since then the children has grown a lot and for 2 years I hear from them regularly again. As we are friends with the girl, recently we went shopping together. She chose herself some (pink) beads and asked me to make something for her. Princess. :) The bracelet is the bonus just to  have the surpirse-effect.
